Accomidation for citizens...

St. Peters Hall provides care and accommodation for up to 12 younger adults. In particular, we provide a
service for people recovering or suffering from mental illness who are currently assessed as being stable. The home takes citizens between the ages of 18 to 64. The home aims to provide a rehabilitation service to assist its citizens in attaining their maximum level of sustainable independent living.

Citizens are normally expected to be able-bodied and fully ambulant, however people suffering from physical disabilities that are assessed as not compromising their ability to respond appropriately to health and safety emergencies will be considered.

Unfortunately we cannot house wheelchair bound citizens, but the home caters for visitors with disability on the ground floor.

Visitations

We strive to support Citizens in maintaining meaningful connections with their families and friends outside the home. Citizens have the freedom to choose whom they meet when and where. Should a citizens desire it, their friends and relatives are welcome to visit and their convenience, participating in daily routines and activities or privately in their own rooms.

Activities...

To assist with the homes social programme, there is a dedicated activities officer who by arrangement will escort any citizen to activities outside the home or arrange entertainment such as films or board games within the home. We try to help citizens to continue to enjoy as wide a range of individual and group activities and interests as possible both inside and outside the home, to carry on with existing hobbies, pursuits and relationships, and to explore new avenues and experiences. In recognizing the citizens birthdays as a special occasion, the home arranges and funds a birthday party for each citizen on the anniversary of their birthday.

We hope that friendships among citizens will develop and that citizens will enjoy being part of a community, but there is no compulsion on a citizen to join in any of the communal social activities. We have organised social activities such as outings, entertainment in house and externally, such as escorted visits to the cinema. We also organise annual holidays. We will aim to provide and organise any reasonable activities that the citizen wishes to pursue
(Pending risk assessment).

Services users who wish to precise their religion will be given every possible help and facility. In particular, we will do the following:

  • We will try to arrange transport for citizens to any local place of worship if required.

  • If asked we will make contact with any local place of worship on a citizens behalf. We can usually arrange for a minister or a member of the relevant congregation to visit a citizen who would like this.

  • In the public areas of the home we celebrate the major annual Christian festivals faiths for which the home predominantly caters. Citizens observing different faiths have the opportunity to participate or not
as they wish.

  • Particular care will be taken to try to meet the needs of citizens from minority faiths. Specific requirements will be discussed before admission.
